Changing Up My Giveaways: Extra Entries

I am slightly changing the way I host my giveaways, in regards to extra entries. I was very surprised, in a very good way at the turn out of the Birthday Bash. There were so many entries and a huge amount of people stopping by my blog. Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word!

This got me thinking about the time invested on entering giveaways and blogging and being a parent, so I decided to simplify things a bit. I am no longer offering extra entries for adding me to your favorites on Technorati. Hopefully, if you like my blog, you will do that anyway here. I am also not offering extra entries for becoming a fan on Facebook. The same thing goes, if you like my blog and want to connect, I would love you to fan me here.

Most importantly, I just want to make sure that the giveaways are easy to enter and quick so you can learn about these great products, take time checking them out and then enter to win your very own.

So, what do you think? Do you like the option of 10 extra entries or do you like having only a few extra entry options?

I hate extra entries :) I feel like I have to do all the ones I'm eligible for if it's a prize I like, but I dont like the time involved. So thank you!!!

I agree with you and Carrie. While a few extra entry options can be fun, a whole pile of them leaves me feeling kind of frustrated.

I do not like a lot of extra entries. If I see a giveaway that has a long list of options to enter I usually don't even read it. Thanks for all the great giveaways you have and I would like them even better with fewer entries!

I prefer fewer entries. I find myself signing up for loads of things I don't really want (newsletters, different blogging connections, etc) in order to get the extra entries. I also wonder if it really makes a difference when everyone else is doing the same thing so it's not that I'm getting extra entries really…

I agree with fewer entries. I understand that many of them help advertise the giveaway and help your blog increase it's ratings, but it is a deterrent to entering a giveaway unless I REALLY want to win the prize. Thanks for asking!

That's great! I think that keeps me from entering as well because I don't feel like I have as much of a chance to win if I don't do the extras. Very thoughtful of you. :)

I like fewer options. I imagine more options increase my own odds, since most people don't take the time to do everything they can, but fewer options level the playing field and take less time to do.

Thank you thank you thank you for simplifying. Less is more!! I hate ending up with things I don't really want in order to get the extra entries. My favorites are the single entry giveaways where everyone has the same chance to win.

Thank you so much. I am so proud of you for coming to this decision.

I was telling my boyfriend last night how happy I was that you made the choice.

You are right, as a mom, a blogger, a wife/girlfriend and as someone who is so busy, it's great to be able to say.. "Yes, I follow you. Yes, I am still going to be your facebook friend, no matter what"

    You are awesome… !

I love extra entries, but prefer them to be a small number because like Carrie, I feel like I have to do them all!

My biggest pet peeve is where one thing gives multiple entries and you have to post x number of comments for each entry. It is REALLY time consuming on blogs that only lets you post once every 30 minutes or whatever.

So say blogging the giveaway is worth 10 entries, you take however long to blog it, then it take 5 minutes just to enter your entries for blogging, and if you do the other stuff that is even more time.

In short, a small number of extra entries are good (I would say 5 extra entries is good). Following on twitter, following the blog, subscribing, button, and blogging the contest. Also, If you are on a word press blog don't give one item multiple entries because its a huge pain and makes me want to skip the entire giveaway :(

I like less entries. Usually when I'm entering stuff it's one handed while I'm nursing the baby, so all typing is with one hand, or reaching over top of her… so less is better!

Well, personally I like having a few extra entries but I think my ideal would be 4-5. Being still fairly new to the blogging world I just recently jumped on Technorati, I don't completely understand it and yes, keeping up on yet another involved website like that takes time I just don't have!
As far as Facebook, I decided a while back to try and leave it out of my giveaway entering. Now twitter I love for giveaways and will use that often (unless I am at work of course because they won't let me on twitter there! LOL)
Thanks for asking our opinion! I guess for me it boils down to knowing that giveaway entering takes time and I will just use the extra entries I have time for!
