Five Fun Family Vacation Activities Your Kids Will Love

Summer is fast approaching – what are your plans? TwitterMoms want to know – you can learn more at their discussion page!

Here are 5 fun family vacation activities we enjoy doing!

1. Theme parks are always a great option when it comes to family vacations. Of course, there are the most popular – Disney World and Disneyland, but there are also some other favorites. We recently visited Knott’s Berry Farm – the oldest theme park in the US. We had so much fun and it was not nearly as crowded as Disneyland. The girls were able to ride on the kid’s rides at Camp Snoopy without waiting in lines that take longer than the lines at your local DMV office!

2. Camping is by far one of our favorite summer vacations! We love to camp at the beach where the girls can build sand castles, play in the water and this mommy can get a little bit of R&R!

3. Water Parks are always a fun option and many of us lucky folks do not have to travel far to go to one. I like packing a lunch to keep our expenses down. Many parks have wonderful child areas for safe play and loads of fun. Do not forget your sunblock!

4. Geocaching is a wonderful activity that is fun for the entire family. I am not sure who loves it more – me or the kiddos! If you are not familiar with it, all you need is a GPS and access to to plan your adventure. This is a high-tech treasure hunting game that is played by people all over the world, so there is bound to have a treasure hiding anywhere you are planning to visit – you just need to locate it, with your GPS. Enter your zip code on the website and see what is hiding in your neck of the woods!

5. Museums are not only fun, but they are also educational. Whether you are learning about history or science, many provide opportunities for children to have some hands on fun! Museums are also an affordable activity so you will not break the bank. Pack a lunch and find a nearby park, have a picnic and make a day of it!

We've looked into Geocaching before, that sounds cool. We like doing local farmer markets, playgrounds and state parks.

Geocaching sounds like fun, we’ll have to try it. We love camping and have been a few times on Martha’s Vineyard. Few folks know there is a family campground on the Vineyard and it can be a great way to save money there. Thanks for this post.
